Polyface Volleyball is led by Coach Jeffrey Schmitz, a six-year professional athlete who played internationally in Brazil, Austria, and Finland. Before his professional career, Schmitz was a standout collegiate player at UC Irvine, where he became a National Champion, earned Freshman of the Year honors, and trained with the USA Volleyball pipeline for the World University Games.
Coach Schmitz’s training style is often described as “focused fun”. A balance of intensity, precision, and enjoyment that keeps athletes engaged and improving. His players experience rapid growth through high-impact, solutions-based training designed to elevate both technical skill and competitive awareness.
Beyond the court, Schmitz emphasizes situational mindset development, mentoring athletes to approach challenges with composure, confidence, and adaptability. Polyface Volleyball is more than just skill training. It’s a comprehensive coaching experience dedicated to building balanced, well-rounded athletes prepared for success in every arena.

Skill Classes
Polyface Volleyball offers a variety of 55-minute classes. Whether it’s 1-1 or with a small group, athletes of all abilities can expect technique focused instruction in a positive, competitive environment.
Polyface Volleyball Academy
Polyface Volleyball is led by Jeffrey Schmitz, a six-year professional setter and an alumni of the University of California, Irvine.
With a sharp eye for detail, Schmitz brings a seasoned level of expertise to the court. His love for furthering the game and developing athletes is serious, yet his approach to the game is a playful one. Schmitz brings a unique level of creativity to the court as he sees it as his playground. He frequently incorporates innovative approaches and different tools to help athletes develop their skills.
In addition to ball and game skills, Schmitz mentors his athletes through mindset work. Journaling, reframing, confidence building and offering new perspectives are all regularly incorporated into his coaching. He understands that what’s happening in the mind can impact how the body performs. Beyond awareness, Schmitz offers solutions to these challenges, developing balanced, well-rounded athletes.
